The Little Things

My husband, to put it nicely, stinks at the so called "expected" things. When I buy myself a new outfit or I get a new haircut, I rarely get a compliment. Occasionally, I'll get a "you look sassy" comment from him (which I think is his way of complimenting me). Occasionally, I'll get a bouquet of roses or a single rose because I've been unbelievably stressed. I can no doubt rule out ever getting flowers "just because" and I can forget about a hand written love note that spells out his love for me. It's at this point that I tend to forget just how good he is at the little everyday things. The things that mean the most to me.

Like how he keeps our house looking clean day in and day out. He does more than his fair share of laundry (yes, even folding it and putting it away), vacuuming, making beds, and putting those endless piles of toys and books away. He will help keep up with the countless plates, cups, sippy cups, forks, and spoons that need to be hand washed daily. He is a fabulous cook and does so without complaint. He loves and spends time with his girls (yes, that includes Molly) each and everyday. He makes sure that the cars are working; oil changed, tires rotated, etc...

Almost every day he does something that makes me feel so incredibly lucky to have him in my life. So I will gladly accept the lack of compliments and flower giving skills he possesses and not take it to heart. He makes up for it in so many other meaningful ways that I just simply smile in my sigh and say I love you.
